Scented Candles

Today, scented candles appear to have an almost endless range of fragrances to stimulate the mind. As our sense of smell is closely related to our emotions, it's not surprising scented candles can initiate a feeling of well-being throughout our bodies and in turn create a sense of relaxation and peace within.

Recent research indicates that our sense of smell does not decline with age but can actually improve as the years go by and suggests further that people who use scents or fragrances often can develop a finer awareness of the subtle and delicate changes between batches of the same fragrance.

Aromatherapy candles

Hippocrates, The Father of Modern Medicine (470 BC - 410 BC) actively preached the benefits of aromatics and their use to his pupils and although Aromatherapy is classed as a 'modern science' it is fair to say that knowledge from the benefits of using aromatics has been around for centuries.

Many scented candles now incorporate aromatics which has had the effect of taking candles away from their more established use and the primary function of candles to provide us with light is now changing.
